Timid turkey

Our turkey hen, Drumstick, usually LOVES to leave the pen and go exploring in the yard.  However, since last month, she refuses to leave the pen.  She sits near the feeder and just eats.

Now, I have checked her all over to determine if she is hurt or ill and she seems quite healthy.  The only thing we can think of is that she remembers that last year, as it got cold, Wishbone, our large and very aggressive tom, left the pen one day and never came back.  Could she have put two and two together?  She also has not been as eager to get petted.  And they say turkeys are stupid!

As for the chickens, we had to put down another of the babies because it got its foot caught in the automatic feeder.  Sparrow has since redesigned the feeder so the ffod drops down into a pan, thus keeping any moving parts from being exposed.   No chance of getting caught now.  However, 2 of the youngsters are cockerels, Franken chicken and the barred rock hybrid.  Sparrow is planning on culling them as soon as they atart to crow.  Henry, our Buff Orpington rooster, is king of the flock, and we plan on keeping him.  More than one rooster makes for trouble, so the other two will be dinner.  Such is life on a farm.
