Gravity?

After having goats for two weeks now, I've come to question the law of gravity, as they seem to defy it!  Watching them leap into the air as if they have springs on their feet instead of hooves, makes me wonder if Santa Claus really uses goats instead of reindeer.  I've seen reindeer up close while spending the summer in Alaska.  While they are majestic beasts with impressive antlers, they just seem to be too big and heavy to lift off the ground.  Nick and Molly, on the other hand, seem to leave the bounds of the Earth's pull quite effortlessly.  I half expect to see them taking off like birds.  They certainly leave the ground with much less effort than do the chickens.

As with most small children, Nick and Molly are very curious and full of energy.  They've been let out of their pen a few times and just love to run and jump.  Because of their curious nature and the fact they put everything in their mouths, like human babies, we have to be vigilant to keep them from getting into poisonous or dangerous plants and other things.  When they went by the pond, they looked like they wanted to walk on the lily pads.  Of course, they would have quickly learned how to swim if they'd done so.

But, like most children, they were not very happy when it was time to go back to their pen.  Now they try to escape everytime someone goes in or out of the pen.  We are thinking of putting a little vestibule in so they cannot get out unless we want them to.
