I'm Back!

Had a bit of trouble with the programming for my blog, but it's all taken care of.

Let's see, what's new...Ducks!  I'm always asking my DH for more more critters and his standard reply is, "No more animals!"  Then, two weeks ago, he comes back from the feed store and hands me a box with 2 ducklings!  They were marked "Asst. Ducklings" and were straight run.  They appear to be white Pekin ducks.   I have no idea what sex yet, so I'm holding off naming them.  They are growing VERY fast and are so much fun to watch!  They run around the bathtub, where they're hangingout until they're a bit bigger, and splash in the container of water I put in there for them to play in.

As for my summer garden, I didn't plant one this year.  I was sick and then I just didn't feel like dealing with the tilling and cultivating.  I'm putting used hay and goat bearries on the garden plot  so it can compost down and nourish the soil, well, sand, actually.

The chickens haven't been laying much of late.  I don't know if it's the heat or the fact that the majority of them are 3 years old now.  Most farmers would have put them in the stew pot by now, but they're my pets!  Flossie, my Americana that lays the blue eggs and is named for my grandmother, knows her name and comes when called.  She loves animal crackers and even bananas.  She hangs out on the front porch with me and has even shown an interest in going for car rides.   How could I eat her?

Speaking of chickens, it's time to herd them into the pen for the night.
