Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve and the yard is white with frost.  It won't last, though, because it's due to warm up quickly.

I haven't updated this blog in quite a while.  The last few months have been busy with family, farm, and club activities.  We have a new duckling, which is growing rapidly in our bath tub brooder. It's all toasty warm but our room is starting to stink!  I can't wait until it's all feathered out and can join it's parents outside.

2010 have not been the best of years for our little family.  The year started with my having multiple tests to see If I had breast cancer.  Then we suffered the double tragedy of the deaths of our daughter-in-law, Faith and our granddaughter, Ziva.

June was particularly stressful, while preparing for Field Day, I ended up being rushed to the hospital and nearly died from an internal bleed.  The year is ending withme undergoing more tests for breast cancer.

But, through it all, we cling to the knowledge that our God is great and doesn't allow anything in our life that He hasn't meant for our ultimate good.  He loves us and is ALWAYS with us!

Although I know He wasn't born in December, we set aside the 25th to celebrate Christ's birth.  Amid the hustle and bustle of modern life and the pressure to participate in all the commercial madness that goes on this time of year, let us pause each day and take the time to remember what this holiday is really about.  God became a man so that He could take upon Himself the penalty of our sins.  Never forget that.

So, as you're opening up presents tomorrow, remember the costliest and most precious gifts are the life He has given us and the life He laid down for us.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Thirty Oaks!
