Is There a Hell?

Recently a pastor of a Methodist church got fired for saying he agreed with Rob Bell on the existence of hell, or rather, the non-existence of hell.  They feel that hell is incongruent to the idea of an all-loving God.  That God loves everyone and thus forgives everyone and could never consign anyone He loves to an eternity in hell.

What they forget is that although God does love everyone, He is also a righteous God.  Nothing that any one of us can do can earn our way into heaven.  None of us is righteous enough to spend eternity with an all-righteous God.  But, because He loves us, He provided a solution for our dilemma.  He became man, lived a sinless life, was killed for all our sins, and was resurrected.  He gives us the gift of salvation at NO COST to all men.

The problem is that to claim this gift, one must admit that they are sinful, that there is no other way to God, and submit their will to God's will.  Jesus paid for us with His own blood.  He took our guilt upon Himself and separated himself from the Father so we could be reconciled to Him.

People who preach the all-loving, all-forgiving God do so because they want to believe they can be forgiven and go to heaven without changing their lives or subjugating their sinful lifestyles.  They want to have their cake and eat it, too.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. As a consequence, millions of people are going to die thinking they are saved and Jesus will tell them, "I never knew you."
