God's Perspective

When bad things happen, people wonder about how a loving God can allow such things.  When some folks look at the great expanse of the universe they think there must be other life out there because it would be a waste of space for just us.  What these people don't take into account is God's perspective.  God is eternal, and as we were made in His image, we, too, are eternal.  These bodies die, but our spirit lives on and later we are given immortal resurrected bodies to inhabit eternity.

Because we are eternal, the lives we experience on this earth are so infintessimally short as to hardly be a blink.  So, the pain, the horrors, the disasters, the violence we may endure now is really nothing in the grand scheme of things.  God doesn't create sin and suffering but He allows it for His purpose.  And since He is an all-loving God and has our ultimate best interests at heart, we know that he allows things in our lives for reasons we may not understand.

As for life on other planets, there is no scientific evidence for aliens and no biblical evidence for them.  Science has proven that the universe must be the size it is and the planets and galaxies the way they are for life to exist on this one planet.  A waste of space, you say?  Remember, we will spend eternity in glorified bodies and have forever to explore the vastness of space.  Beside, God is going to destroy this Earth and the universe and create a new heaven and Earth.  So, although we need to be good stewards of this planet, I'm still going to use an aerosol cooking spray when I bake!
